Final Piece and Evaluation
For my final piece I have put three of my own edited images in photo frames that I burnt myself. To burn the frames I placed all three of them on top of each other and then newspaper underneath the frames to get the fire started. The three images I put in the frames are my three most successful images for different reasons. One is one of my most successfull May Xiong images which also combines fire. One which I have manipulated pages on top to give the feeling of fire being thrown upon him. In this fire image I added a soft blur over the top, despite the original image being completely in focus I didnt think the burning paper looks realistic without a 'motion' blur being put over it. Therefore I put a blur over the full image. The third image in a photo which I was most proud of capturing fire with my model and the smoke I captures coming off of the stick he was holding. I also really like the lighting in that image because it makes the model stand out more.
Over all for this project I think I have shone through and did some of the best work I've ever done. This is the first time I've made a final piece that wasnt just my wix page or powerpoint and I really enjoyed doing it. This project was a challenge for me because I dont normally go to a lot of woods and I find it awkward doing portraits of people I dont fully know. However I worked through this and managed to get some really good portrait images and learnt a lot about manipulating and editing images. For this I have also had to tone down my editing from extreme manipulation of images into just subtle changes sometimes not even changing anything at all. In future projects I would love to focus on these artists again because they made me go out of my comfort zone and get some great photos.
