May Xiong:
May Xiong is an American surrealist photographer who draws over her photographs or usues string to create geometrical shapes on her images. She either draws on the images after printing them or will sometimes use photoshop like I have to create my images. To create my images I opened up some more portrait images in photoshop and used the line tool to draw geometrical shapes over Brandon. I feel like these went really well and I'd love to use this technique in my final piece.
May took these images as if the lines where connecting the human mind together. Its a connected maze of the minds thoughts. The first thing that dragged me to these photos is the well proportioned portraits and then I focused on the 'mazes' over the images. I have added these mazes to my images becauses its as if my model has put a lot of thought into setting up the sick and lighting it and you can see his thought process in the image. Which is why the lines connect to the fire and his head. This is also the reason that on one of the portraits the lines are moving away as if he is day dreaming and is thinking about something else.
